1.6 miles on a moderate grade uphill (with a couple of semi-steep places). All in all, a pretty easy hike up and a very easy hike down of 45 minutes. Easy shoreline access is limited by brush and other obstacles. A float tube would come in very handy here. All in all, a fine day trip and not a bad way to introduce some young ones to the pleasures of alpine lake fishing! Holds cutthroat. Aug 10th, 2002 John Kruse

Leader Lake (Reservoir) (159 acres): Fishing should be fair to good for chunky rainbows on this lake 4 miles west of Okanogan. Heavy irrigation demands due to drought greatly decrease the water levels some summers. Trout survival can be affected, but expect those rainbows that survive to be in excellent shape and averaging about 12 inches. Boat launches, toilets, and camping available.

Facilities include a Forest Service campground and boat launch. Use of motors is prohibited. The lake is located just east of White Pass and is usually ice-free by early June.
Leland

Jefferson County’s Lake Leland is located about 4 ½ miles north from the town of Quilcene. It covers about 100 surface acres, reaches depths of about 20 feet and lies at 190 feet of elevation. Fish species include rainbow trout, largemouth bass, bluegill, yellow perch and brown bullhead catfish. Almost every inch of the shoreline looks like it could hold bass and probably does at different times of the year. Prime casting targets include overhanging brush and trees, lots of old logs and wood in the water, pad fields, cattails and a few private docks. Public access is provided by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. The large access area provides lots of parking space; a pit toilet and a solid gravel boat launch area. There is also a very nice fishing dock at the access. The usual signs are posted at the access, “No Camping or Overnight Parking,” and the lake speed is posted speed of 5 MPH. For the camping fisherman, the good news is there is a nice little campground just across the street from the WDFW access. Overview and photos by Bob Johansen

This is a 55 acre lake reached 15 miles north of Hoodsport. Take the road that runs along the north side of the Hamma Hamma river for 7 miles, then take the trail 3.5 miles to the lake. Holds rainbow, maybe cutts and eastern brook. Lena Lakes are located near the Jefferson-Mason County line North of the Hamma Hamma River. Lower Lena Lake can be reached by a moderated-kid friendly rated hike up trail #810. The hike to lower Lena is 6.4 miles round-trip and can take you about 3.5 hours to accomplish. You are rewarded with a great spot to take a rest and enjoy atop picnic rock which overlooks the amazing crystal blue lake. Lower Lena has 14 campsites for overnight trips. Check with a Forest Service Office for availability. Upper Lena is another 7 miles roundtrip from lower Lena and is a difficult rated hike, but also offers the adventurer with a couple campsites for overnight stay. Both lakes hold Rainbow, Cutthroat and Brook Trout. Fishnislife The trail Upper Lena Lake is snow covered in winter and stays that way as late as May or June. This hike requires snow travel and good route finding abilities as much of the trail is above 4000ft elevation and some areas are very exposed
Lenice

Type: Freshwater Lake
Reports: 35

Lenice Lake (94 acres): Planted rainbow trout carry over well here and should provide catches in the 13- to 19-inch range; brown trout are also available. Selective fishery regulations apply; check the regulations pamphlet. Access is on foot (one-half mile walk) with toilets at parking area. Located six miles east of Beverly, Washington, this 94-acre dessert lake of eastern Washington contains planted Rainbows, Browns, and Tiger Trout (hybrid of Eastern Brook and German Brown). The average size is 18 inches, with many fish between 20 and 24 inches in length, thanks largely to the productive shoals, selective gear restrictions (single barbless hook only), and one-fish limit. The lake is 25 feet deep and best fished early and late season when the water isn’t too warm. Mike MacGregor
