Made my final trip to Hog today. Due to rapidly warming temps and rain, the ice is quickly deteriorating. While the main ice cover is still 9-10" thick, there is a strip of open water about 2-3' around the lake edges, making access difficult. I caught 4 rainbows between 7:00 and 9:30. Now that the snow has melted, I was disgusted with the amount of trash left on the lake, ie fast food trash, beer and soda cans and bottles, etc. I guess some people think that hiding it under a pile of snow will make it go away, like it won't end up in the lake. Maybe this is why it's called Hog Canyon...fitting, huh? It's sad that a few can ruin things for the many. Good-bye Hog, until next year, ice permitting.
