Had Lake Goodwin all to myself from 10am to 2pm. Rainy and a little chilly out. Water temp was 43 degrees. The electronics found the fish, I failed to catch them. Marked perch schools in 10 feet of water in Southeast end of lake. They didn't like dick nite spoons, jigs, or worms. Found what I believe were trout in 35-39 feet of water, they didn't like worms, powerbait, powerbait and worms, spoons, flatfish, and a kastmaster. Over by the swimming area I put the boat up against the bumper logs and actually saw some nice size smallmouth. I believe they are getting ready to spawn but water was too deep to see the nests. I tried worms, power grubs, small spoons, a rooster tail and mepps spinner (too early for those, but I was desperate) and they didn't like anything I had to offer. Came here last week and fought the wind for 1 perch. That's too tough days of fishing but it beats work. They are here, it's just too early or I just can't fish very well. Hopefully fishing picks up before this lake is swarmed over with the wave runners and ski boats. Good fishing.
Joe
