Today was our first attempt for bass of the year, so we decided to head out to Lake Goodwin for some smallie action. Arrived at the lake around 10:30am, surface temp was at 52.5 degrees. Fished along our usual spots for a while with no luck, so we decided to do a little exploring. Came to a section where the smallies were very active and attacking our grubs but were striking short. Ryan decided to bring out the fly rod to see if we could get any of them in the boat. Didn't hook into a smallie, but did land a nice rainbow.

We kept moving around the lake looking for some action, to no avail, so we decided to head back to our spot now that the sun had warmed the surface temp to 56 degrees. Fishing in 13ft. of water using a jighead rigged with a Pumpkin Yamamoto twin tail grub, I felt the line get heavy and set the hook, knowing that this was no little guy. FIGHT ON!! After a few minutes of fighting the fish, we brought it aboard, snapped a pic, and sent it on it's way to be caught another day. Nothing like catchin a big ole pig on the first day back on the water. Only two fish of the day, but it was great to be out fishing.

Team C&R Out!
