We HAD to go for a second-helping of fishing at Fishtrap Lake, given the great day we had on Opening Day. Well sir, we arrived this morning a half-hour earlier and put the boat in during the wee hours of the morning. We then sat on the shoreline near the boat launch and soaked up the pre-dawn wake-up of a pretty productive lake. Coyotes, turkeys, ducks--- when the air is still, those native inhabitants can be NOISY!!

ANYWAY; back to the fishing report!

BAITS THAT WORKED: Same stuff as yesterday; maggot-inis
TYPES OF FISH WE CAUGHT: Rainbows (3 Triploids!) and Silvers
LENGTH OF FISH: C'mon; I am a FISHERMAN of the old school (subtract 3 inches from all reported lengths) 12"-15" for the majority of our catches; the Triploids were 18" - 20". Gawd, I love fishing!!
WEIGHT OF FISH: Sorry, no have weighing device on boat. All the fish together are pretty heavy, though...
TIME OF DAY: Early Sunday morning; before the worms even!
LOCATIONS ON THE LAKE: West side of the lake, from 100 yards of the boat launch to 1 mile south...
CONDITIONS OF THE WATER: Same as yesterday---lots of windblown grass and aquatic growth
LURES WE USED: Wedding Rings AND--- a "Dakota Lure" Pretty thing it is, too!
WEATHER CONDITIONS: Do weathermen REALLY know what they are talking about? It was supposed to be clear and sunny and warmer than it was on the lake! But... it wasn't raining. During the dawn, the lake surface was smooth, calm, with wisps of fog rising from it...
DEPTH: We fished about 10' deep
BOAT SPEED: Good trolling clip (using the same battery for the electric trolling motor that we used yesterday)
NUMBER OF PEOPLE ON THE LAKE: Fewer than yesterday--- Those men and women that take their kids fishing have a special place in Heaven reserved for them--- and there were a LOT of them!

Fishing with a friend, on a familiar and fun lake--- Life Is Good. Thanks, WDFW! And... Thanks for these opportunities to practice my "writin' skills" !
