Checked out the Tucannon Lakes for the first time. Visited Rainbow Lake and saw three anglers getting lots of small rainbows fishing salmon eggs under a bobber. I then went to Spring Lake and saw lots of active trout jumping. They were not interested in my spinners or spoons. An angler on the other side of the lake caught a limit within a half an hour. He came by and was kind enough to hand me a caddis fly strung to a bobber I could use on my spinning reel. Within a half hour I had hooked 6 rainbows between 6 and 9 inches, landing 4 of them.

As I finished up a young man came up with his buddies. He said he had only caught one trout while his friends had caught and released several at a nearby lake. I gave him the fly and wished him luck!

A partly cloudy but pleasant day.
