Got to Rowland Lake today at around 3pm. The weather was perfect and no wind. There were about 20 or so people around the lake on the shores and only 1 boat. On my first cast out I had a hard bite but missed the fish. For about 2 hours straight, every cast I made I either had a bite or a hook up with a rainbow. I figure I caught about 10 fish in 3 1/2 hours. All were about 10-12 inches except the two that I kept. Both were triploids that were 16" and roughly 2-3lbs each and nice bright colors. I was using hook and sinker with about 18" of leader tipped with powerbait. It seemed like orange was the best color at least for today it was. Word of advice if you plan on releasing any fish if you can, try to limit the amount of contact you have with the fish. The best way would be to keep them in the water and try to pull out the hook that way. Some of these fish are still new to the lake right out of the pens so they become shocked easily and just belly up and die! Though I'm sure the ospreys don't mind you making an easy dinner for them. Perfect day for fishing except for about a 30 minute period where some idiot on a jet ski was flying around the lake causing wakes and all kinds of noise. I can't complain too much I guess because the fish were still biting. Great lake and I had fun. Good Luck!
