Went to Padden and caught one trout on Bubble Gum power bait from shore. There was occasional clouds, sun was directly in front of me. Cast about 25 yards and set 3-4 feet off bottom. Messed up my rig so who knows if I could have done better. Talked to an old timer who limited over 4 hours. He was rigged up at about 4 feet. I wish I knew the water depth, might help locate where in the water column they are this time of year. Was going to try spinners as my buddies said the trout were biting on opening day on them. Not sure if the fresh planted trout are still on top like they were opening day.

Spinners have been working very well for me from my boat. Today I saw a school of 15 or so rainbows right on top in front of our boat, so yeah they are still up shallow. Man, that was a cool sight. The lake is pretty shallow from the shore out to about 100 yards, then it drops off a bit. Most of our fish have been coming from 200 yards and less from the shoreline.
