Decided to go out in the rain on Tuesday with my niece and buddy to try to see if there was anything biting at Waughop. They had been there about 1/2 an hour before me and hadn't gotten but a bite each. As I walked up and set up my chair at the clearing for the model boats and my niece landed a small 7 inch rainbow using power eggs. I threw in using 2 powereggs white and yellow and landed a nice 9 inch rainbow after about 10 minutes. After about an hour of nothing, my niece landed another fish. Holy Cow! It was 15 inches and FAT! We didn't have a scale to check it's weight, but it was a beast for this lake. I checked to see if it was a Triploid, but it wasn't! I can't believe that fish was stocked last month that big or that it was from last year or longer. This lake gets fished a lot just because of it's easy access and the HUGE park. I will be back, next time with waders in the late evening with my fly pole. Rumor is that is they way to nail them at this lake starting next month from an elderly gentleman that stopped by and took a look at our catch.
