I decided to give Lacamas lake a try this morning. I was torn between Lacamas and fishing Drano again, but we had the carpet cleaning service coming over in the morning, so a quick trip was in order. I was on the water at 7 a.m. and trolled the eastern shoreline with a wedding ring/worm setup. This worked well for us two weeks ago at Prineville reservoir, in Oregon (got some nice 14-17 inch trout there.) Trolled for 45 minutes and no luck. Speed 1-2 mph, water temp was about 57.2 degrees and fishing in 20-40 feet of water.
Fished the north and west side and lake and changed up my gear. Wife called at 8 a.m. to tell me the carpet service will be there in 20 minutes. As soon as I set my cell phone down I got a hit. Landed a nice 12" rainbow. Setup again for another pass and got another 12" trout, but this time it's a brown.
At 8:15 decided to make the 5 minute trip back home. I am fishing the Sandy river tomorrow for Springers and I will give Lacamas another try Sunday morning.
