Fished alone for about 45 minutes from the shore of Lake Washington at the Day Street Boat Ramp, which is located directly under I-90 on the West side of the lake. I tried that spot because I'd read in Terry Rudnick's book Washington Fishing that trout like to hang around the cement bridge supports of the I-90 bridge. Temperature was in 50's I'd guess, water fairly calm. Hung up and lost my 1/4 silver spoon on the rocks on maybe my third cast as the water is very, very shallow in this location. I then switched to a small Rapala-like wounded minnow lure. After no action for about 25 minutes, I decided to work the Northern bank of the park for bass and perch, still using the wounded minnow lure. I hooked one tiny smallmouth bass (I think) near a boat dock, but lost him about 2/3 of the way to shore.
Is there better fishing under the bridge on the east side of the lake? Maybe I should have brought my duck waiters to gain access to a little deeper water?
I'm new to Seattle-area fishing, so I really don't know what I'm doing out here (I grew up fishing mostly for Bass and Bluegill in small ponds and lakes in Virginia).
