5/24/2007 12:42:00 AMSomedays they just seem to smack the lure but never seem to get the hooks in their mouths..>Some days are tough like that. Just keep trying what your doing the fish will start to hook up better on most days...

5/24/2007 1:25:00 PMRemember that fish have noses. Well at least they can smell. Add shrimp or anis to your lure. Not a whole lot but maybe just enough to entice the fish to say whoooooa! that's mine, fish-on! The other thing is remember that fish hook themselves on the troll. don't slow down, set the hook, or change anything. The only other thing I can think of is some days (possibly due to weather) they bite better then other days.

5/24/2007 3:15:00 PMIt's not the hook it's probably your rod or setting the hook too hard kokenee have very soft gums and mouth you may be ripping the hook out of their mouth try lifting the rod up lightly and reeling or get a rod with soft action at the tip like a Fenwick Willow. Try this next time you're out bet your catch hit to catch ratio improves significantly!

5/25/2007 9:33:00 AMlike the others have said, don't set the hook while trolling, just pick it up. I like to bend the hook slightly to give it an offset. seems to hold em better. I have also tried circle hooks in the smaller sizes and they hold real well also.

6/12/2007 12:48:00 PMTry using a k fly with a small treble stinger attached at the rear of the main hook.I lose alot less silvers doing this.I tie my main hook on like i would do an egg loop for steelhead then slip the loopthrough the eye of the treble and around the treble and slide it within about 1/8th of an inch from the back of the single hook,wrap a little red or orange yarn around the shank of the single hook and use some head cement on the eye to secure the stinger hook in place so it stays put.then add your beads,so on..Its a pretty easy thing to put together
