Took my Dad out in the Bass Tracker from 7 to 11am for some early morning bass. After fiddling with the motor for an hour or so, we finally idled our way to the south end of the lake out of the wind. Tried plastics and jigs for awhile around the bank and among the pads with no luck. So I tied on my yellow/black back Rapala DT-4 and ran it down along a 5 foot deep channel between the pads. Caught one hefty 3 pounder off an edge in the pads and followed it up shortly afterward with a 12 incher that spit out the hook. We moved up and down the channel with no more luck and then came back to the same spot a little while later and my dad caught a two pounder on the same edge with a chartruese Norman crankbait. There were a few other boats out there with us, but I couldn't tell what they were fishing for. I only had one other bite on a watermelon lizard in a submerged bush on the southwestern bank. Pretty chilly and overcast morning, but a good time on the water.
