I was driving from Yakima to Centralia, and since I had my 8-foot boat in the back of my truck I gave Swofford Pond a try. I fished it from about 7-8:30, trolling a red and white spoon for trout (I didn't plan to go fishing so I had no trolling gear or bait on me). I got a ton of little nibbles, but caught no trout. What I did catch (and release) though was a couple of mini-bass and a couple of large bluegill. It is amazing how well a large bluegill can fight on a micro-rod. Entertaining hour and a half on the water. The next time I go to Swofford I think I'll target bluegill.

Powerbait and nightcrawler fisherman from shore looked like they were doing mediocre; I'd guessimate about 2 trout a rod.

bluegill definitely pack a lot of fight for their size! i love fishing for them on ultra light gear! it's a blast! :) i haven't fished swofford since 2007 but i plan to go back this year. i've caught some monster bluegill much bigger than my hand stretched out.
