Took my wife and daughter to Silver last night. We were looking to catch her first tiger and silver is the place to do it. We were on the north end and only out about 1 hour before she had a follow on a firetiger swimbait, little 4" one. We went over the correct way to entice a following fish again and she practiced a few figure 8's in the water and continued fishing.

Well not three casts later the fish, about 32 inches long, comes following in again! This time the wife is shouting "There's one! There's one!!" so I couldn't miss it. Now I'm hollering back "don't stop moving the bait, don't stop, don't stop!" And she stops....Now typically a following tiger muskie will lose all interest in a stationary bait, notice the comotion only feet away and bolt off never to be seen again.

Well apparently the muskie didn't get the memo and it sat there in the water looking at a stationary bait. It didn't seem to care about me leaping over the middle seat to get to my wife either. I reached over and grabbed her wrist and began moving the pole forward and this muskie starts following again. So I speed up and make a turn and let go of the pole telling my wife, "speed up, get the tip in the water, make a big circle!!!" As soon as I let go the fish speeds forward and grabs the swimbait. I'm yelling, "set the hook!" and she tugging on the pole. This fish goes ballistic at boatside, it comes straight out of the water, bangs against the side of the boat and dives down. The wife's tugging like mad on the pole and the fish turns around and come's flying out of the water again shaking it's head then out comes the lure!

I'm not easily embarrassed, but the blue streak of cursing my wife bellowed out would have made Quinten Terantino blush. I mean, I think it actually killed several birds in flight that were in our area. Baby ducks had their fuzz blown off, it was impressive.

We were only out on the lake for a short time after that, our little girl just couldn't behave in the boat this trip. But the fish were turned on, obviously. The moonrise/sunset time's I've written about are worth checking out. Muskie experts claim that these periods will also see the largest fish active in the lake. I believe it and always try to be out during these times. If there are no more posts from me after this it's because the wife killed me for telling this story.

Great fishing Muskie Guy's wife (I met you the meeting but I 'm horrible at remembering names the first time we meet). Sounds like it was quite a fish! Good luck next time.
