I decided to escape the heat today, so I made a morning run up to Dog Lake. Since they just stocked it last week, I expected pretty fair fishing. It was a beautiful day up there -- Mid seventies, no wind and sunny. You can't beat that! There were quite a few fishermen at the lake, fishing from both shore and by boat. They must have decided to escape the heat as well. The fishing was very fast paced, in fact I limited out in about an hour. All fish ranged between nine inches, to just over eleven inches (stockers). I fished from the bank, on the highway twelve side of the lake. I used fluorescent pink power bait, on a size 8 salmon egg hook, with about a foot and a half to two feet of liter and two slip sinkers. I didn't see anybody catching fish at the rate I was, so this seemed to be the trick for today at least. WDFW will be planting triploids very soon, and I will be back for some lunkers! Tight lines.
