Went out to Fish Lake this afternoon/evening for 3 hours or so. 66 degrees at the surface and moderate wind from SW.

The fish were biting on damsels around the lilly pads in the middle of the lake. Caught 5 Brook Trout in the first 20 min at about 5' below the surface. I was using a mini sink tip line (5' sink tip) with an olive marabou damsel pattern. The largest of these was about 11". The technique I employ is to let the pattern sink as close to the pad as possible (down to about 15') and begin my retrieve with a long sharp strip followed by a 10 second pause followed by short slow strips. If I'm going to get a fish it seems to happen on the second of the slower strips almost every time.

After a dry spell of about 30 min. I moved to the West shore and began working a black bugger along the bottom looking for some of the larger Tiger Trout that I have been catching here over the last couple of weeks. Within a few minutes of working perpendicular to the west shore I caught a 14" Tiger Trout. A few minutes later a 12" one was on, but chewed through the leader only a few feet away from the tube. After tying on a new black bugger I proceeded to catch a 3 more ( 1 Tiger and 2 small Brook trout) before I called it a day.

Another good day for a somewhat overlooked little lake.

Tight lines.

That's 13,000 fishing reports posted over the last ten years. How about someday having 13K a year? It could happen. I think only a fraction of the guys that visit the site actually post a report.
