I was targeting bass this date; I wasn't too hopeful given the cool, overcast conditions and barometric pressure reading. Add the fact I was fly-fishing top-water for them, I didn't expect much. I started out with a self-tied frog-green popper pattern. I could only coax a couple of strikes as I headed towards the far end of the lake from the boat ramp, flipping towards the docks and pads. An unexpected break in the clouds revealed a warm sun and action picked up immediately. I eventually caught and released seven, the largest being over two pounds. I also managed a number of bluegill that I thought were a bit overpowered, given the size of my popper. There were a few other anglers out this day and all were trolling. I didn't notice any fish taken by them.
