Me and the kid went out and got a late start. Hit the dock about 0830 and the wind was out of the Northwest at about 5Kts. Slight haze at first then it cleared off. Temp was about 70 with water estimated at about 55. Water was pristine and very clear. We headed over to the west side directly from the south launch ramp and started out using a chartrues spinnerbait and then quickly switched to a red and black. The kid used a Gary Yamamoto 194 large grub. Despite charging the trolling motors all night they went dead in an hour. We weren't having any luck so we switched to using an electric red worm fished Carolina style and the kid used a suspended rapala in black and silver. All at once a nice smallie in the 3.5lb range hooked up on the rapala. I in turn had several jerks, but nothing that held on for any time. Still spawning maybe??????? Anyway, that was the only fish we picked up and headed home about 1300. Maybe next weekend we will have better luck.
