Met up with Chris (quadradomus) who came over from Seattle. Hit the lake at 530pm and stayed on until dark. We trolled around a lot doing some metering and casted a couple lures for nothing during the first couple hours. We tossed cranks, spinners, various t-rigged plastics and did some drop-shotting around all the docks and weed lines we ran into. After being blanked for a while I played Captain on Chris's sweet 14' Lund and let him do a little trolling. Within a couple minutes he is reeling in a nice stocker trout on a green and silver Kastmaster. Once we got to the other side of the lake trolling I tied on a shad colored senko and flylined it. After a couple of tosses working it slow around fallen trees and stumps, I get hammered. The fight went on for a good minute with me guiding this nice LMB in and out of potential hang ups. Chris grabbed the net and after a couple runs from the boat, pealing drag, I got her close enough for Chris to get the net under her. I let out a yell that I'm sure you could have heard from across the lake. My new PB (personal best) Northern Strain LMB. She hit 4.4lbs on the digi. Chris has the pics so as soon as I get them from him I will post them up. Awesome fish, great fight. I have a plan to do a lot more metering of this lake and hitting it up a lot more often then I have. My next step it to set up the Hudd and start tossing that thing around. I know there has got to be a state record or one that is close and the only way to catch her will be throwing big swimbaits. So my persuit for a DD LMB begins. They can only get bigger.
