First time this year I fished Tradition Lake. Had the place all to myself. Typically I catch a lot of small (8" to 12") bass but not today. Tried a variety of lures and had a 12" fish on until it jumped and threw the lure. The visibility was only about 18inches; maybe that affected the fishing. I did get one 19" fish (which I guess is between 3 and 4 lbs). It hit a floating rapala. If you haven't been to Tradition it is about a mile hike in and can only be fished from a float tube.

Ah, yes, thanks for sending in a report on Tradition. That was where I caught my first big bass while fishing it from a canoe with my son. He had told me that there were a lot of small bass in the lake but doubted if there were any big fish. On my 2nd cast of the early morning a big 22 inch, 6 pound, 4 ounce lunker swirled under my Rapala and sucked it in. We caught a lot of small fish that day but that was the only lunker. Oh yes, that was on May 7th 1980 -- still a nice memory.
