I decided to take my tiny Livingston out on Pine Lake today over another crowded afternoon on the fishing pier. All in all it wasn't too bad of a day. My trend of using everything but the kitchen sink and catching an everything that I wasn't trying to has continued. I caught a ton of sunfish using a chartruese power egg and live worm-bit combo along the private docks and in the lillypads. I don't know why, but this combo drives 'em nuts. I caught a few baby bass on live worms in shallow water (<10ft) near some lillypads and downed trees. In this same area I even caught a few crawfish that REALLY wanted my cheapo red salmon eggs. Those little guys just clamped onto the line and held on tight while pulling the eggs off with the other claw. At least I have good idea where to spend most of my time the next time out. One of these days I'll land a lunker worth keeping.
The water seems to have warmed up quite a bit on Pine Lake in the past week or so. The water is somewhere between stained and clear as usual. I could have done without the wind today, but at least I had my trolling motor in addition to my usual oars.
