It was very sunny with gusting winds on this warm evening on Silver Lake. The water temperature was warm enough to forgo my waders on this trip when I launched around 5:30pm at Homestead Park but I was wishing I had them on by the time I left the lake around 9pm.

I used a full sinking line rigged with a black bunny leach and a small peacock trailer as well as a rod rigged with a floating line with a yellow body/orange legged girdle bug style nymph. Picked up a small perch right off the bat in front of Emory's restaurant on the full sinking setup which was a good sign for things to come. Worked the shoreline with the floating line picking up 6-8 perch total closer to shore and a few other hits. All were fairly small--averaging 4 inches.

After getting down to Green Lantern park I slowly trolled my way back north in deeper water with the full sinking setup and let the wind do most of the work. Caught and released two trout doing the slow troll and then headed back to the park to wrap up the evening.

Overall there appeared to be a lot of perch in the weed beds along the shore so would be great for kids if you make it out on the lake as the water warms. Good luck!
