Well actually had the rare opportunity to go fishing with my dad in his boat out on Waitts Saturday night. He rents a slip there at Silver Beach Resort. We arrive at around 8:00pm and he took me to the other side of the lake in about 30 feet of water till we saw some blips come up on his fish finder. The surface temp of the water was about 70 degrees. We dropped anchor and tried using some powerbait and watched the rest of the sunset. He had one on using a green/orange rainbow colored powerbait but it spit out the hook when he got it to the boat. I tried red & white power bait but didn't even get so much as a nibble. The activity on the fish finder went pretty much dead until after sunset. We had both switched to red glo hooks and corn by now. My dad caught a nice 12" german brown which we tried to release but it ended up surfacing by the boat and splashing around so we retrieved it. I got some nice quick bites but that was about it, nothing really grabbed hold and I was too slow to set the hook. We called it a night about 10:45 although I would have liked to have stayed out later....at least till I caught something. By evidence on the fish finder there appeared to be a lot of feed in the water too...lots of fish on the fish finder from about 10:00 on but they weren't really in the biting mood.
