Largemouth Bass

Got on the lake around 4:00 am and started catching bass within 20 minutes. Fishing mostly jigs and spinners in all depths. Caught 11 fish in 2 hours the biggest around 4lbs (pictured). The picture isn't very good since I was alone. Has anyone ever caught small mouth bass in this lake? See the picture attached. I caught this one today.

That is not a small mouth. Look at the size of the mouth and location of the side fin.

The first picture is the largemouth, the second pic is the smallmouth. My last comment was on the first pic.

i spoke with Roger (exbassguide) he says yes! there is smallies in there. not many at all though. so its very rare to catch one and that is definately a smallie no doubt about it. its light coloring is because of the shallow lake. awesome job bhammett! you are the man!

Wow it is funny how people cannot tell weight of a fish or specie. Buy a digital scale 'cause that fish is no bigger than 2.5lbs. The bottom pic is definatley a smally. It is scary to think that some of you are out there fishing and cannot tell what fish are what!!

There is Smallmouth in that lake like TNJ reported, and yes the one on the right is a smallie, and yes bhammet must have very big hands.

There are numerous smallmouth in Silver Lake and that is a photo of one. Those of you that don't believe it is should buy a better computer monitor.

I have heard of Smallies in Silver lake before. A few people I know would have told you to kill it. Its a trophy largemouth lake, I don't like the idea of SM's in there personally either. Plenty of SM's in other bodies of water.
