Another eventful evening at Beaver! I managed to land the bass that got away last week (or at least a comparable one.) When the ripples in the water finally settled, I managed to bring in my limit of LM bass. The largest (see pictures) was just a hair over 17" with the others being in the 9-11" range. The big one stretched the heck out of my 8# line. I had to throw away nearly 25' of it. I finally was able to bring home a decent meal for my family (normally I C&R) but this was too good of a day.
I started out with topwaters and got ZERO action, moved on to spinners/spoons, and finally to plastics. I had a ton of action and all my success using a twin tail Yamamoto grub texas rigged w/ a smooth and consistent retrieve. I was glad I stuck out the early afternoon rain and was able to take advantage of the nearly barren lake and placid waters. I stuck to the areas around and between the docks in roughly 5-10' of water.

Thanks for the tip Bass Tracker! Thumbing the jaw worked great, no net needed.

On a side note: Please pick up after yourselves if you are using the boat launch. I spent quite a while picking up all the trash littering the whole area, enough to fill to large Joes bags! I have sent an email to Sammamish P&R to see if we can get a trashcan put there otherwise I will go out and buy one and hopefully it will get used.

Yep... I could let my first decent bass go. Tasted great by the way! Nolan- I'll keep some full size trash bags in my truck and empty the trash if its full whenever I'm out there; it's pretty unlikely that the city of Sammamish or the game warden will do it. The broken glass and tangled fishing line was my big concern since kids and dogs frequent that area quite a bit. I may take a butt can out there in hopes people will at least put their cigarette butts in the can instead of everywhere else.

good job on the trash man! i say if you pack it in you pack it out. there are plenty of lakes and ponds i know of that are closed to public now because people dont pick up after themselves.

I continue to hear about bass fishing in this and nearby lakes. What about trout? Are they present? Not biting this time of year? Not of interest?

learn to release the bass. that thing in no way could have provided a good size meal!!! unless your family is a group for cats. Gj on the catch but Bj on the release!
