Me and my father went out to Silver Lake on Saturday. It was overcast with some scattered showers, a bit breezy too.Haven't fished this lake in quite a few years. We launched our boat at Streeter's Resort and headed across the lake towards the southwestern corner. Tossed white spinnerbaits at the edges of the lillypads and around logs. I caught two small bass, and then nothing for awhile.
We ran into Dave Newby, he was working on his bilge pump switch and gave us a good tip to try. Showed us a couple huge bass he had in his live well and we chatted for a few minutes.
After he left, I tried a pitching a dark colored craw plastic near some reeds, following his advice, and almost instantly caught a healthy ~2 pounder, then another small one right after that.
We messed around a bit more and headed in so we could make the drive back to Spanaway at a decent time.
Overall it was a good day, I really like Silver Lake, I grew up camping there and learned to fish there as well. Thanks again to Dave for the tip, can't wait to come back and catch a few more.
