Was on the water 4pm to sundown. Cold front blew throw yesterday afternoon with 10mph that died about 6pm. Bounced jigs off the rocks on the northeast side of the lake catching several 1-2lbs smallmouth in 14ft of water. Son also caught 2 large 14inch crappie. Dozens of small perch and bluegill caught at weedline.

At sundown, 150 yards to the west of the boat launch my 5 year old yelled he hooked something big. His drag started singing, I thought it was a bass, he reeled up a turtle. The turtle was a little upset that the worm had a hook and hissed his displeasure at us. I cut the line at the jig as I have no idea how to C&R turtles.

my grandpa, a retired hatchery manager and game warden, said just to cut the line, you will more than likely do more damage trying to get it out than to let it just work out on its own. Plus they have the tendency to clamp down on it and not let go
