Me and a friend went out to Fan Lake to use up some spare hours of the day. Really pretty lake. No motors are allowed so we took the ol rubber raft out there. We covered the whole lake from about 10 am - 3 pm not the best hours of the day to fish though..... Tried most the lake with top lures ( rapals / rooster tails of many colors) no luck. Started hitting the shallows with jigs of different colors, and my friend got his hook into what looked like about a 16 inch trout, but it rolled and spit the hook.... after noticing a shore fisherman (bottom fishing with worms ) it looked like, reeling in 18 inchers left and right, we decided to still fish near shore with worms and powerbait/marshmellows still no luck..... we decided that the sunburn we had was enough and headed for the boast launch.... we stood at the boat launch and threw out some spinners and jigs and saw lots of fish, and i actually caught a 6 inch bass (released of course) and we could see a lot of fish in the water, 6-12 inchers swimming in swarms in and out of the weeds...and an occasion 16+ incher would wander out where we could see it..... It was the first time out there, didn't know what i was fishing for, or how to fish the lake, but it was a good time. I would try it again sometime , probably a better time of year and day though .
