Went to Echo and dragged half worms, gulp eggs, and scent very slowly behind the boat. We were the only boat on the lake and a couple of Latvian gents fished briefly from the public access. The day started cloudy and cleared up nicely by the time we left at noon. Blue skies, a puff of breeze, and only a grebe to share the water. We took nine rainbows - all of them this year's plants from ten to twelve inches. Had one jumbo trout on the line, but he executed a long distance release after a few impressive runs. We caught about five pesky bullhead catfish and three or four sunfish. This lake is pretty much a featureless oval, so the trick in summer seems to be crossing and recrossing the deepest part in the middle and ignoring the rods to induce strikes. I brined and smoked the trout and they are now toothsome tidbits on the second shelf of the fridge. The Latvian gents had two when we left.
