I hadn't been up to Dog Lake in about three weeks on account of the massive mosquitos, but today they were pretty much non existent, thanks to a nice breeze that lasted all day. I headed up to the lake today along with my grandfather and two uncles and we arrived at about 11 am. We fished along the highway side with pink power eggs, slip sinker and about eighteen inches of liter. This worked pretty much all day, except for the end of the day. For some reason at about two in the afternoon, the bows quit hitting on the pink power eggs. We switched to yellow, and the bite was back on. We all ended up with our limits. All fish, except one, ranged between 9 and 13 inches. My uncle, however, pulled out the largest trout I have ever seen come out of Dog Lake -- a beautifull 17.5 incher. The Lake was fairly unoccupied, I think on accounts that White Pass was closed from the summit west due to a rock slide. I ran into one guy who said, "I read on washington lakes that pink power eggs are pretty effective." I then proceeded to tell him that it was my reports he had been reading. I thought that was pretty cool. Hopefully I encouraged him to sign up and become a member. It was sunny and breezy all day, and quite cool, which was a NICE escape from the 100 degree temperatures we have been having in the valley. Add a couple of bush lights into the equation, and I was in paradise. I'll be back soon.
