I was in the mood to catch dozens of fish, regardless of size, so I thought I'd try one of the I-82 ponds for bluegill. I ended up at pond #6, Buena Pond. There was about twenty people there, 15 of which were swimming, inner-tubing, and the like. Luckily they all stayed by the vehicle parking, leaving the fish on the freeway side of the pond relatively unspooked. I caught and released three or four dozen small-to-average size bluegill, pumpkinseeds, and perch from between 4:30 and 6:30 pm. I used white mister twister jigs, a little maggot-resembling soft plastic, and worm chunks; a couple of times they even bit on a bare red hook. I tried bass fishing for about half an hour after I got tired of messing with the 'gills, but to no avail. I did get one strike on a Rebel jointed-minnow the second it hit the water, but missed it. I saw the bass hit it, it looked more like it used its face as a battering-ram; I don't know if it had any intention of actually eating the lure. All and all a good day, I should have panfishing out of my system for a little while now. There is a ton of carp in that pond, if only I could match wits with those sly devils.
