Well been at Downs last three weekends and should pass on a report. Have to say the perch are starting to turn on each day its getting better. Fri Aug 10th was a great day except for the wind but it would come and go and so did the perch. Was able to keep 29 very nice ones, at least 20 of them were 10 and 1/2 inches and a couple were almost 12 and they all were very fat. Fishing near the pads and in the junk weeds. Sat the 11th I had 3 young men all about 11 or 12 yrs old, all three of them took several nice perch, Rashaan's biggest was 12 1/4 inches we all were proud it, I was proud of all three boys in their fishing skills, they done GOOD. The majority of the fish were caught with either a night-crawler or a meal worm that were on either a jig or just a hook. Either way we fished right off the bottom.
Seems that most of the good fish are taken about 10 am and until 2 pm and again a bit later in the afternoon. A couple of boats went out a dark and wow did they find lots of catfish and several of them were very nice.
Last week end I did see a 13 1/2 inch Crappie, it was very fat, Darla done good catching it. Also I was told that a few perch taken in the last 2 weeks were over 13 inches, some good flays there for sure.
