my nephew and I hit mcintosh tonight, weather was good water was calm, the fishing was good we landed 5 nice fish, my nephew got his first real taste of bass fishing, he is a real go getter after salmon and steelhead with his dad. so he caught his first 2 bass, 1 at 1.8 or so and the other about 2lbs. didn't have my scale as later i would regret. i caught 2 around 2to 3 lbs then i hooked this hog here. it was somewhere between 6.8lbs and 7.4lbs, somewhere in there so I'd say 7lbs. it was 25 inches and real thick in the back and tail and head. i caught a 6.8lb bass in swafford years ago that was 22 inches and real fat. this one was bigger then that one. I caught in on a plastic worm. we went back the next morning at daylight and caught 4 more but only in the 14-15 inch range,1to 2lbs. will for sure be back more

Excellent Fish. Good work, Brad. Any more details on what lures you used and how you worked them?

Great job Brad, you sure know how to prove me right! I mean, u fish looks way bigger than Brian F's fish and his is supposibly a 10lb+ Great job, Me and my cousins have been trying jigs lately and have been having better luck each time. Any advice u can give us about the methods to catching these monsters? Listen to this, We cast out with our huge ass bass jigs which have trailers on them, Then we jerk it and leave it be. Then after a while we get a huge slam, but when we try to hook the fish, we always hit bottom or nothing at all. Any advice?

REPLY: The1fishingpro........Ive caught huge fish at Mcintosh, but they have been there for a while and are actually pretty bright for a planted fish. Heres the thing with bass......A big hit doesnt mean a set! Let the fish take the line, slowly reel the line until you can feel the weight of the fish then set it to the moon! The biggest mistake that people make with Bass fishing is setting it like they do in trout fishing. Trout swallow bait quick while bass hold them in thier mouth a bit. This is why it is important to have patients. By simply taking in some slack and feeling the fishes weight (Or seeing the line move around) you eliminate all those missed strikes and youll get rid of probably 80-90% of set snags in the brush/weeds/logs. Tight lines

to the 1fishingpro, I weigh most my fish, this one i didnt have my scale, but i know it's 7lbs or darn close, maybe a little over 7 but i doubt it, i've caught alot of bass in my day. you see so many pictures on here with people saying this fish weighs so much, and i laugh, but hey stories are stories and the joy people get by thinking they got one this big all fun anyway. that 10lb+ fish is that the one from lacamas? if so i thought that was no way that fish was 10 lbs, but ya never know, i like how the pic with the scale doesnt show a fish attached!

the1fishingpro and cavdad45, well i will say this, i've fished bass alot of years and fished with a few so called pro's, and they use there huge jigs with trailors or plastic frogs on the hook, and the texas rigs and all that, slip weights ect... just like you see on tv, and with me i'm basic as can be, i just use a plain jig with no trailors, sometimes use my plastic worms with a split shot up the line 2 feet and slow crank, or a 2 inch surface plug, or a 1.49 spinnerbait. and i have tons of luck, you dont need all the expensive gear, and special rigs or any of that stuff to catch fish. i use 8 to 10 lb test and a spin cast reel. the best advice i can give is watch the water, if you watch well all it takes is to see a small boil in the water and make a perfect cast. knowing where to cast is my ticket, take your time, using the jig is something i havnt mastered yet, i need to master it because most of the biggest fish are caught with a jig, with me i'm content with catching more fish then 1 big fish. i've only caught 3 or 4 fish over the 6lb range but i've caught thousands in the 2 to 5 lb range, i would rather catch 6 or 7 of those in 1 trip then 1 at 7lbs. so my advice is dont try to be like everyone else and be yourself and use what feels right to you. the hogs will come.

Right on, Brad. Thanks for the info. You are right, it's about reading the fish and using your confidence lures.

Same fish. Camera date and picture look exactly the same. Not a big deal.

ipodrodder, read down a little ways and you will see what happened, if you read both it's the same report almost word for word, not trying to post same fish twice.

Ok. I'm going to put words in his mouth and say maybe it's just he tried to post a second report because his first one didn't post in time. It's not a big deal. Good job Brad.
