Got on the water at 6 a.m., not a sole around!! Lilly pads EVERYWHERE along the shoreline. I started out throwing some top water poppers, spinners, etc. Didn't have any luck until I threw 'em the "snagless frog (green)". I was casting on top of the pads and counting to 20 before doing anything, then I'd gently pull it into the water and wait another 10 seconds then I'd jerk it slowly back to the boat. I had one strong topwater hit, but couldn't set the hook fast enough. Scared the crap out of me actually.
I worked the docks along the West side of the lake approx. 3-4 houses up from the public beach area. I caught a nice 14" 2-3 pounder next to one of the floating diving platforms that are out in the lake a bit. I had a 5" shaky head (purple / flake) worm, rigged up on a drop shot. Again, I would cast and WAIT, twitch it a few times and watch your line. I was in a pontoon boat in about 10' of water. Not sure what the water temp was, it was pretty warm.
I didn't have any luck with my jigs, spinning lures or grubs. Stick with the worms either Texas, Carolina or drop shot rigged. A SURE BET AT BEAVER LAKE.
Sorry, I forgot my camera today, I'll get pictures another day and post again.
Good luck,
bassackwards
