I wanted to post a couple of pics from last Saturday's NW Tiger Pac's Lk Tapps musky tournament. There have been some questions on how we handle the fish to get measurements etc. The first pic shows me taking a girth measurement. Length was also taken in the water/net and witnessed by another contestant in another boat.
The second pic illustrates the importance of a solid hold on the fish's lower jaw. Notice my support hand. It's there for support in the middle of her but also if things get wild (like this), the fish just pivots on your support hand with your other hand maintaining solid control. That's a 40"er almost making a 360* circle.
If you've got good control, they're not going to get hurt, nor are you.
She was out of the water just long enough for a pic.
