9/12/2007 11:34:00 PMHow you catchin all them musky? I seen your reports from earlier this year and everyone says they are so hard to catch. But you seem to be doing it pretty easy. You got a secret weapon or something? I been fishing the bass over here for a while and I checked out silver last week. Caught a couple doing like you wrote earlier so I figured you got the handle on this lake. What's your favorite lure for the musky in silver?

9/13/2007 11:03:00 AMLure selection should be based on the water depth the fish are using. Spring and fall call for different lure selections to work the cover the fish are using effectively. I usually start with 4 rods rigged with different baits. I throw the fastest moving bait first and work my way to the slowest moving one looking for a pattern. First one is something quick like a bucktail, second one is something a little slower like a spinnerbait, next is almost always a swimbait and finaly a suspending dive and rise jerkbait. I base my color selection on water clarity, if I don't move any fish at my first couple of stops then I change colors. Right now with the water being dark green I like brighter lures and a little bit bigger ones too. Spring and early summer I prefer natural colors and black. Hands down favorite on Silver are swimbaits. They can be worked shallow or deep, fast or slow and the muskies like em. I hope that helps, send me a p.m. if there's anything else.

9/14/2007 11:22:00 AMGreat report muskie guy! Thanks for posting so many details on how and where to find them. We have never fished for muskies but have been wanting to give it a try. You have us rethinking our weekend plans for walleye fishing. How old are those boys of yours? Years from now they will remember those fishing trips with their dad as some of the best times of their lives. In my case it was my grandpa and I still think of him and those days long long ago ever time I go out.

9/15/2007 4:58:00 AMI hope more guys are getting their kids out on the lake you are. I am the east side public relations contact for Washington State's first Muskies Inc. Chapter, #57- NWtiger pac. I hope that some of the details in my reports will help more people try the tiger fishing, and if anyone wants anything they can send me a personal message on this site. I know there is a lot of misinformation out there about muskies, mostly rumors that get crazier each time they are told. I always take my first time muskie angler's to Silver, it's as close to a sure thing as you'll find in muskie fishing.
I think it's lame that people will post a report and not share any information. The more people fishing, the more state dollars spent on improving the fishing.
If you get out this weekend to Silver try trolling deep diving crankbaits along the East shore, out on front of the stumps in 15 to 30 feet. And you can do the same on the West shore in front on the tall rock wall and all the way back N. to the launch. Your walleye baits will work fine and don't forget a steel leader. And post a report too, good fishing.
