Man I don't get that lake. I hear ya though. I mean it gets absolutely limited fishing pressure. If the Crappies are in there you would think they should be huge. I really feel like hitting that once again this next spring before the crappie spawn. I see people fishing it but I havent caught much out of there the two times I fought that mud. Talked with a guy that said if you walk around the trail through all those high weeds there isn't as much mud. He said there are huge crappies in there. I may give it a 3rd go around next spring but I am not confident going in.

I caught small bluegills and bass when I went there. VERY SMALL.

Lake Cassidy if far superior for catching Crappie Joe, just make sure that you read the regs for size/catch limits on them in Cassidy. And in spring, it's just soooo much easier to get into than Bryant. I've fished it numerous times with little success. I highly recommend Cassidy, by far one of my favorite lakes for just about every species, Bass, Pumkinseed Sunfish, Crappie, Rainbows, Triploids, Perch, Catfish, maybe more, but can't think of them right now.

I fished Cassidy for 3 straight years and I will admit the Crappie Fishing is out of this world. You get there right about dark and it is lights out until well after dark. The problem is with those regs. 9 inch slot limit has made that lake so over populated you would be lucky to catch one that is 9 inches. In the 3 years that I fished Cassidy I probably caught 6 or so that met that length limit. I really dont think it has helped the fishing. However, you fish it more than me, do you catch a decent number of crappies that meet the 9 inch slot limit. I know you can only keep 10 and if you can catch 10 9 inch or bigger in one outing, you are a much better fisherman than me.

I have tried deeper water and that is usually where I catch a bigger fish but I usually fish for an hour or two berfore catching one. If I go to the Lilly Pads its a better bet for me. I will catch fish almost every cast and every hour or two I may catch a big enough Crappie to keep. I found a lake earlier this spring that produced plenty of big crappie and I did my part to ensure that I only kept the males. The females were all full of eggs so they were set free. The problem is after they spawned they scattered and they have been a pain to find. I have been fishing the other side for Walleyes quite a bit and haven't been after them to hard this summer. They have plenty of cover, I just got to figure out where they are.

I have yet to catch a trout out of Cassidy but haven't fished for them. I go there for the Crappie fishing. Occasionally pick up a few small perch and I did catch one 12 inch bass. I have only caught one bluegill and it wasn't very big. Cassidy is a good fishing lake but the water looks like coffee. Plus its only a few miles away from me. I fished it once this spring and that was it for me.

Bryant does have some good fish in it. The lake isn't planted (too far from the road for the hatchery truck, I guess), so don't expect to catch a lot of trout, but the wild cutthroat can be very nice. Last time I was there was several years ago, but I caught two fat cutts on air injected worms floating off the bottom, one 12" and the other 16". The second one put up a heck of a fight!
