We did it again! The BBs of BL arrived at Badger early in the morning; while the rest of the county seemed to be draped in fog----- at Badger Lake the lake surface had only gossamer wisps of vapor dancing across its smooth surface.

A slight breeze was blowing over the lake from the NE; nonetheless the lake was smooth as we set sail for another fishing escapade.

Using the SAME tackle as we used last Sunday, we limited out. Again.

I consulted with The Other Guy In The Boat (who happens to be the other BB of BL AND, coincidentally, the owner of the boat) and we decided to reveal the SPECIAL COLOR we used for catching all those wonderful cutthroat trout. The color issue is a dynamic one; one that keeps changing as the weather changes...or the water temperature changes... or the changing phases of the MOON... and a few other variables too. The upshot being that the color we found that works best for this late season fishing may not be the primary choice for early-season fishing. Bottom line? The color we chose works NOW...

The other tried and true trick of eating a snack to attract fish was ALSO employed, and with similar success. I do not feel the snack trick affects the wedding rings' effectiveness, though...

It DOES NOT matter what kind of face you make while holding your fishing pole--- fish are not interested in those details.

We like fishing at Badger Lake. Thanks, WDFW.

BAITS THAT WORKED: Ahem. Wedding Rings--- MILKY GREEN. Above those same wedding rings we attached flashers THE EXACT SAME COLOR AS THE WEDDING RINGS. No, red doesn't work here. We tried. Neither does orange nor pink. We tried a lot of colors, and we ONLY GOT CONSISTENT BITES WITH GREEN---concerning wedding rings. It has to have the flashers attached to the line, too. We tried running without the flashers--- bupkis. Eating a snack while fishing HELPS, but DOES NOT in itself attract fish. (Note: we collect all our trash and dispose of it correctly in a proper receptacle--- NOT by dumping it into the lake... Fish HATE that. We hate that, too.)

TYPE OF FISH: Cutthroat trout, all beautiful and full of Badger lake scrappiness!

LENGTH OF FISH: The best part: These guys were bruisers. 13" - 15"

WEIGHT OF FISH.... *

TIME OF DAY: Morning!! O-dark thirty for the boat launching; finished about 10:30.

LOCATIONS: Power lines vicinity

CONDITIONS: Smooth, with wind from NE. Later, wind direction changed to from SW and surface of lake became choppy.

LURES USED: See above text...

WEATHER: Foggy until we got to the lake; partly cloudy with breezes

DEPTH: 30'; water temperature 60 degrees at boat launch to 62 degrees near power lines

BOAT SPEED: > 1 mph

NUMBER OF PEOPLE ON THE LAKE: maybe 8 boats...

WHO'S DA MAN: The Other Guy In The Boat, for listening to all my corny jokes and not throwing me overboard!!

* @#$%$!! STILL don't have a scale!
