After leaving perfect "surfing" conditions on good ol' Lake Whatcom, I was headed home when I decided to swing by McMurray, as I remembered it sits down in a bowl and is fairly protected from the wind! Sure enough, it was pretty smooth sailing there, so I decided to give it a try. It wasn't as windy as Whatcom, but man was it raining!! I started out tossing a couple spinnerbaits and had a couple short strikes, and a few followers. So I switched over to a jig and WHACK! Continued throwing a jig the rest of the day, caught 9 bass with the smallest running just under a pound, and the biggest just under three pounds! I also lost or missed about 10 more.... It was fun, and the little guys are good practice:)
My black and blue jig is available at most local stores, but the trailers are not, see BPS or Cabela's and think BLUE.......neither are the directions on how to trim them for more "action".......just experiment...;)
If you throw a jig in this lake be prepared to snag a few times...a lot of times a bass will grab it while it's sinking and run back towards the boat into deeper water, but right under a tree! Watch your line, and have fun....
