Stopped at Kress Lake on the way back from a disappointing flyfishing trip to the Kalama River. I saw a few small fish dimpling the surface so I broke out my ultralight spinning rod that I always keep with me. Caught a few 6 inch brown trout before leaving since the water was so low and lots of plant life growing around the shoreline made fishing difficult at best.

By the way, I FOUND A TACKLE BOX SITTING ON THE SHORE OF THE LAKE! If you or someone you know lost it, leave me a response here and let me know how to contact you. BE SURE TO DESCRIBE IT AND ITS CONTENTS. I would love to get it back to its owner, looks like "kid stuff" and I'm sure some kid is broken hearted right now.

No doubt that there are a ton of small trout. You can see them and they have no fear. Go a little deeper and use a bigger lure for better trout. I hope you find the owner of that tackle box, if they haven't claimed it already.

Gotta love Kress Lake. Small or big it's a fun place to fly fish fish. One question. What were you fly fishing for on the Kalama? I heard there is trout in there. Is that True? Would love to fly fish it myself.

I was flyfishing for the silvers, but I think that the early run is pretty much over now. Hopefully the "B" run will be in there soon (if they haven't already shown up now), I have never fished the late run silvers but I plan to give it a try in the next week.
