We got to the lake around 7 p.m. to do a little late night smallie fishing. We trolled a couple of black worms with prop style blades that have gotten us a couple 3 lbs. largemouths in the past. Right off we were getting bites but the bass were so small that they didn't put up the fights we were looking for. We got down to the west end of the lake were the weed mats are thick and grown to the surface. We rigged up our must successful smallmouth lure, (the Arbogast Jitterbug) and went to work. Right of we were catching pound or so bass, and when we began to troll the jitterbugs my dad caught the biggest smallie I'd ever seen out of that lake weighing in at 4 lbs. and measuring 16 in. The wind then began to blow hard and we had to pack it up. On the back to the launch we got a couple of bits but nothing major. All the fish were released to be caught another day. So remember practice catch and release so other can have the fun of catching the fish in the future. Tight lines everybody.
