Went to Lake Tapps to test out 2000Subaru's new boat and maybe even catch some bass. think that boat goes about as fast as I'd be comfortable going out there. It's niiiiiiiiiice! The weather cooperated well, not a single drop of rain once we got on the lake. Water temp was in the lower 50's (Brrrrrr....) and it was mostly overcast with occasional sun breaks. They're draining the lake now, but the water level has only gone down a very small amount.
We had a few minor mishaps (anyone know the best way to fix a severed transducer wire?) but nothing too serious that kept us from fishing. I also discovered that I've occasionally been reading my scale on the top of the marker rather that on the bottom. That means that I may have read some of my fish 1.75lb less than they really were, oops. I
I caught one 3lb smallmouth just after noon using a football jig with a crawfish color skirt and green goby smallie beaver trailer. The fish was in about 10' of water near the edge of a dock and weeedbed. Although we've caught fish there in the summer, I was surprised he was so shallow this time of year.
