Wow, what a fishing day.

My roommate, a couple of our friends and I decided to try out Black Lake, because of the recent plants. Black Lake is about an hr drive for us. So I was hoping it was well worth it.

Turns it, it was! We fished off the park dock. Don't remember the exact name of the place. Columbus, or Columbia Park or something like that. Had to pay $6 to park each vehicle.

The dock was decent, except for all the duck/goose crap.

Got there at about 9:45AM. Fished til 2. We caught 14 total between the 4 of us. Biggest was 19". Which was caught with a bobber and rainbow powerbait. About 10ft in front of the dock. It was the first fish of the day. And it was my friend's very first fish. She was very excited.

Anyways, a few were 13-14". And about 8 15-16".

Fish were caught on powereggs. Color didn't seem to matter much. We got a fish with all the colors I think. Also used powerbait dough. Orange, and rainbow color. All produced very well.

We noticed they do not bite hard at all. Just a weak slow pull tap, or a quick gentle tap. But they do put up a nice fight once fish on.

Sound like you did pretty well Fishingfool. I think I am going to go out there this weekend. Next time you go, its worth driving a few extra miles to Kennedy creek, chums are pretty thick right now.

GPC,

Where is Kenney creek located at? I do not know the area well. Also, what's the legality of fishing in a creek. What kind of setup should a person use. And bait?

Thanks

Littleriver,

Every fish that I have taken from Black Lake has been good. No white meat...all orange and tasted pretty good......Matt

I've been to Black Lake a couple days this past week but I've had no luck, where is the best place to fish? The only dock I am familiar with is the one that is open for swimming in the summer and has a "no fishing from the park" sign. Got any tips on where I can set up? I'm a fiend for trout.
