Took the Canoe out to Beaver. Got there about 11am, trolled a Panther Martin to the other end of the lake with no luck - hung out at that end until about 1:30 fishing different colors of powerbait from the bottom, no luck there either - saw two guys hook up in that time - one trolling a spinner the other trolling a fly. Trolled a green/gold wedding ring with a plastic worm back to the launch - caught one right between the launch and the little peninsula on the other side of the lake. It was about 4lbs - VERY dark and hook-nosed, let him go. Nice day to be on the water and check out a new (to me) place. I will be back!

Might be a big natural fish. A lot of them are getting in shape for false spawn.

Gringo!

No pic? bummer. 4lbs sounds like a nice fish to have waited out an otherwise slow sounding day on the lake.
Good finish.

Yeah, it was a nice sized fish, but pretty bad looking, can't say I've ever seen a trout looking so dark and hooknosed, salmon yes, but not trout. I didn't want to take the time to set up for a pic since it was going back anyway. False spawn huh? Never heard of that - do they survive it or die?

They survive. Fall and early winter mimics spring weather patterns and naturally messes up their sense of season. They may or may not develop eggs, but I know that they don't lay them and they don't die.

Gringo you're everywhere bro..man you're one dedicated fisherman!! I'm surprised that i never had bumped into you cause you fish all these lakes in my hood of shoreline.

Bigbowkes, they threw in 3,000 3-5 pound fish. Check the forum to answer some other questions you might have. Some good information in the thread Beaver Lake Trout in the Freshwater section.

iPodrodder - Thanks for the info, never knew that!
bigbowkes - We probably have crossed paths and never knew it since we are neighbors. Yeah I like to jump around alot - but there are only two places I tend to go, Those I have been to before and those I haven't been to yet. I am usually the quiet guy off to the side (until you get to know me).

Stick to the rivers bigbowks... Beaver lake isn't worth the time...The fish are dark for a reason, cause they are freshly planted and their meat quality isn't all that good....
This lake gets too much pressure for it to be a good trout lake. It's decent right after the stocking, but what lake isn't?

ok sam i might just take you up on that advice but i'm also thinking about running down to shelton and fishing the roads for some awesome chum fishing. Did anyone else see that? It's even in snohomish too! I hope no one was affected to badly by the flood!!
