hit the parking lot about 12:30 - several cars and a couple of game wardens checking fish and paperwork - followed the trail along the South side past the big rock to mid-lake where there was some open water - heard that just about any color power bait was the ticket, so that's what we started with - about 25 minutes later, after no action, my son got caught in the rocks and snapped his line off - he decided to try a brown promise keeper - first cast (fast retrieve) - nice fish, second cast, another nice fish - I switched to a yellow/black promise keeper - and second cast - another 17"er - we hit our 2 over 14" limit in about 7 minutes after switching tackle - caught several more (C&R) with a black/silver rooster tail - a bit chilly, and a good hike, but a fun day anyway
