Went to Hog Lake on Wednesday. Ice was about 5-6 inches thick. Got on the water at about 9:15. The fish were biting right away. Landed a couple small trout and 1 small catfish. After it slowed down, I decided to dig another hole farther out in the lake. I can not seem to find any depth charts on the lake, so I wanted to find somewhere that was deeper than 10ft. No luck in the middle. Went to the west side, just below the largest cliff (about halfway up the lake). Found a spot that was around 13-14ft deep, but no luck. Decided to call it a day and when I passed some other fishermen near my original hole, they were doing okay and had a few nice fish. I fished again at my original spot and caught 2 more trout and another small catfish. Only 1 keeper today (11" rainbow). Nice day. Will definitely be back.
*Action was key, kept the bait moving.
