Someone, undoubtedly a Great American, hammered his 4X4 through the snow drifts blocking the entrance to this lake, opening it up to the rest of us! Don't try it in a car, though, you probably won't make it. Unfortunately, this individual's effort did nothing to increase the activity and size of the trout. In two and one half hours of fishing, I managed only four hook-ups with two dink 8" fish landed while jigging a Swedish Pimple with salmon eggs. The two that came unbuttoned felt awfully small also. I got several other subtle takes of the "hit and run" variety where they pop it once and never come back! The ice is at a good, solid 10" or so, and unlike Fourth of July, there's snow on the ice that makes walking/standing manageable. Too bad the fish are so small in this lake!
