It turned out to be a fairly warm day, so I thought I would give Lacamas Lake a try even though it is early in the season. I was surprised to find the water level so low after all the rain we've had. The rushes and lilly pads over near the old boat launch were laying in mud. I talked to several people around the lake, and no one knew why the water was so low. I know that the city dropped the water level last fall to work on the dam, but I thought that work was over.
I only fished for about an hour, mainly off the pier across from the float plane. Not only did I not catch anything.......I didn't even get a bite. Sure hope the water levels come up. I suspect that the water being this low may mess up the yellow perch and bluegill spawning. Well, maybe in another month the fishing may improve. We'll see.
