Started 7:00 am the lake was half iced over. A buddy and me used float tubes around the lake both trolling and hitting holes around shore. Once our toes iced over, we got out and decided to try for some bass. Wading around the shore on the southern part of the lake until we reached the ice covering the northern part. Beware the sides of the lake drop off very deep! Since we were not catching anything not even any hits. I thought I would make the morning interesting. I wanted to make the cast underneath some branches. Thinking that I would be able to get a hit in hole I took a step to far and ended up swimming in the fringed water. As we walked back to where we parked an older man was sitting in his truck smoking a pipe giving a chuckle. He reports he had been fishing that lake for years and everyday he casts as far as he can with a weight and chartreuse power bait, sets up his pole on shore and sits in his truck until he gets some action. Cold and frustrated we hit up a local lure shop. Can’t recall the name but they have a large selection of great lures.
